Selling an EV on Kleinanzeigen: Proving Battery Health
Every buyer asks a Tesla seller the same question: "How's the battery?" As a Tesla driver you are better placed to answer it than almost any other seller. With proof the buyer can verify, the battery question turns into your strongest argument. Three simple steps put it into your ad on Kleinanzeigen, Germany's largest peer-to-peer classifieds marketplace (known as eBay Kleinanzeigen until 2023).

Three places to put the proof
A photo in the image gallery. Many buyers scroll the photos before they read a word — so that is where the proof belongs. Akkubrief gives you the certificate as a ready-made image card showing the battery figure and a QR code; the buyer scans it and is one tap away from the verifiable original.
A short link in the description. Put the short verification address
(akku-brief.de/z/…) into the text. Buyers open it themselves and see the signed
original, tied to the car's VIN. Keep it short: in private ads Kleinanzeigen does
not turn URLs into clickable links, so the address has to be easy to type.
The full link in chat. When someone asks, send the verification link straight into the conversation. One tap, and the doubt is gone.
What kind of proof convinces a stranger?
On an anonymous marketplace, only what the buyer can check for themselves counts. Three things make proof strong: it comes from an independent source, it is tied to this exact car by its VIN, and anyone can verify it in a browser. The method comparison walks through every route, from the car's built-in test to a full certificate. Akkubrief (disclosure: our own product) builds that into a battery history: the condition is determined from many charging sessions over time, and out of it comes a signed document anyone can check in a browser — no hardware, €79, available to buy once the validation study reports. It also assumes the car has been connected for a while already. Why it cannot be forged is spelled out on our Security & Trust page.
Tesla specifics: remaining warranty and calibration
Two Tesla details that are worth real money in an ad. First, work out the remaining warranty: Tesla covers the battery for 8 years and a minimum of 70 percent capacity, up to 160,000 km on Standard/RWD variants and 192,000 km on Long Range and Performance. "Still 3 years or 70,000 km of battery warranty left" is something every buyer understands immediately. Second, calibrate before you measure: cars with LFP cells, most Standard Range variants (see the Model 3 overview), should be charged to 100 percent once so the BMS reports its best and most accurate figure.
The ad in four steps
- Battery in the first line — after the price, it is your strongest argument.
- Certificate card into the image gallery.
- Short link and remaining warranty into the description.
- Stay honest — a documented figure clears the uncertainty away, and it protects you after the sale as well. How that helps you avoid the battery price discount is covered in its own article.
In short
Put the battery health into the gallery as a certificate card with a QR code, the verification link into the description, and the full link into the chat, then add the remaining warranty. That turns "How's the battery?" into a reason to buy.
